How to Get a Statutory Declaration Witnessed Online in the UK

You can get a statutory declaration witnessed online by a solicitor over a video call. You sign the declaration live on camera, email the signed copy to the solicitor, and the solicitor countersigns it and emails it back, usually the same day. You do not need to visit an office.

What is a statutory declaration?

A statutory declaration is a formal written statement of fact made under the Statutory Declarations Act 1835. It is used for many purposes, including:

After the call, email the signed declaration to the solicitor. The solicitor countersigns it as the witness and emails the completed declaration back to you, usually the same day. The declaration is complete only once it carries the solicitor's countersignature. Nothing is posted.

How long does it take?

Most calls take between 10 and 20 minutes. Same-day appointments are usually available at no extra charge.

Is online witnessing legally accepted?

For most UK purposes, yes. Acceptance does vary by jurisdiction and by the body receiving the document, so confirm with that organisation first.
